Doodlebus are very pleased to announce that they are part of a group of companies who have won a Scottish Enterprise Tourism Innovation Development Award (TIDA), for a programme called "The Honorary Stillman". This programme has been developed in conjunction with other local companies to provide a 3 day whisky tourism package based in the local area. The package will provide customers with first hand experience of all aspects of whisky and our local distilery, along with the local scenery and hospitality. The package includes a Scottish Ceilidh and a trip on Loch Katrine on a paddle steamer !

Tours over the Border ! 4th November 2006
We recently had our first request to take a tour "over the Border" from Glasgow. So, after checking our driver's visas and innoculations were up to date, we set off. We had a day touring around the southern Lake District - through Kendal, Ambleside and on to Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top. We had lunch in the fabulous "Drunken Duck", then went down to the Laurel and Hardy Museum at Ulverston (birthplace of Stan Laurel). After that, we visited the beautiful village of Cartmel for some of their famous Sticky Toffee Pudding with Banoffee Sauce, and finally drove down to Blackpool to drive along the front and see all of the illuminations. On the second day, we visited Carlisle Castle, then headed up to Hadrian's Wall to visit the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda Roman Fort and town. We had lunch at the fabulous "Milecastle Inn" (try their wild boar and duckling pie), before having a look at the sycamore tree made famous by the film "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves". The scenery was amazing on both days, so we may add this trip to our itinerary.

Thanks a lot !

Lots of Snow! 12th March 2006
After not having much snow for several years, Central Scotland had up to 15 inches (35 cm) of snow last night, which caused a few problems on the roads. Our minibus was stuck in a snow drift for most of today, but is now out and ready for business !
PS - there weren't any passengers on board at the time !

Happy New Year 29th December 2005
Doodlebus would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. In Scotland, New Year's Eve (Hogmanay) is the biggest event of the year, with the "occasional sherry" being sipped. As a result, both Hogmanay and New Year's Day (Ne'erday) will be "off the road" days. However, tours will recommence on the 2nd of January. Best Wishes from everyone at Doodlebus.
|
Festive Season Tours 27th December 2005
Doodlebus will be available for tours on the 30th of December, and will begin "normal" operations on the 2nd of January (although the 2nd is a Bank Holiday in Scotland, so not much will be open - we'll do a "Scenery Only" Tour!)
