After collecting you, we'll head past Neidpath Castle see photo to the beautiful burgh of Peebles, before following the River Tweed through Innerleithen, for a possible stop at Traquair House. The last person to pass through the main gates at Traquair was Bonny Prince Charlie in 1746. They are to be opened again only upon his return.

After Traquair, we'll continue to follow the River Tweed to the beautiful old towns of Galashiels and Melrose, for a quick stop at the Abbey, see photo burial place of Robert the Bruce's heart.

From there, we'll pass the Eildon Hills and, just past Newtown St Boswell's, stop to view the wonderous Scott's View see photo . This was the favourite place of Sir Walter Scott, the famous Scottish author and nationalist. Whenever he was in the area, he drove his carriage and horses to this spot, and drank in the view. When he died, his own horses were used to draw his hearse, and it is said that they both stopped for a while, out of respect to their master. Sir Walter Scott had a great pride in Scottish history, and was responsible for raising the first statues to Scottish heroes such as William Wallace, one of which can be found in the area see photo .

Next, we'll continue through the beautiful Borders countryside, past Floors Castle see photo , setting for much of the film Greystoke, to the picturesque town of Kelso see photo for a wander around it's ancient streets, before heading back to your drop off point.

In all, you should have a fabulous day out in a little known but truly wonderful part of Scotland.
