After we collect you, we'll head straight for Stirling Castle, see photo for a wander around its ramparts, the Great Hall, see photo see photo Chapel Royal and reconstructed mediaeval kitchens. The views are fantastic, allowing glimpses of the Ochil Hills,* the Trossachs and even Ben Lomond. If time allows, we can meander through the Victorian graveyard, past the Holy Rude Church and Cowane's Hospital.

From Stirling Castle, we head for the town of Doune. Doune is famous for many things, but among them are that its castle was the setting for parts of Monty Python's film "The Holy Grail"; at one time it was the home of the Scottish armaments industry; and it was responsible for one of the more common sayings in the English language. (You need to come on the tour to find out which one!)

From Doune, we head through the town of Callander, before climbing the road into the range of hills known as the Trossachs, see photo passing Lochs Venacher, Achray and Katrine, with spectacular views of Bens Ledi, A'an and Venue.

Dropping back down through the Duke's Pass, we stop for a while in the ancient town of Aberfoyle for lunch and a wander, before passing through Drymen, and then on to Balmaha, which is situated on a beautiful bay, on the quiet side of Loch Lomond. If time allows, we can take a gentle stroll to the old pier, past the ducks, swans and anchored boats, to take in the breathtaking views of the islands in the middle of the Loch. There are 30 islands in total but legend has it that if you drink enough whisky, a mysterious 31st island appears out of the mist.

After a stroll, we'll head south again to Glengoyne Distillery, see photo for an informative tour of the various stages involved in the making of Scotland's most famous export, at one of Scotland's most scenic distilleries. We'll then head back to our starting point.

Along the way, we'll fit in comfort breaks and photo stops, and will try to be as flexible as possible.
